Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek 2019
Race Report 1
can change very fast around here...
18th Cape Panwa, Phuket: Sailors awoke to a sunny, blue sky,
with small puffy white clouds and some wind during breakfast. By the time
crews arrived at the beach and out to the moored boats, dark clouds were
rolling across the island and before the 1000 start time, opened up with
a huge tropical deluge, that lasted the rest of the morning. AP over H
pennants were displayed on the start boat and ashore, indicating the boats
return to their moorings and sailors to await further instructions. The
race committee stayed out testing other sites and although some improvememts
were on the horizon, it would take over an hour for the boats to return
to the course area, by 1300 they called it a day and everyone settled
in for refreshments at various locations on the island.
changes to the entry list after registration yesterday and unfortunately
arrangements for East Sail to race Ray Roberts TP52 have fallen through
and now IRC Racing 0 and 1 classes will be combined and two separate results
generated to keep it fair for both classes and size of boats. Further
teething problems for Garry Holt and Michael Spies Seaway 25 Eastern
Creek Karts, has resulted in them chartering a Platu 25 and renaming
it Sydney Premier Karting Park. That makes it two Platu 25's
Degenkolw's X3/4 Ton MK2 defending champion Phoenix
and Aussie Lyn Evans on the Farr 1104 Farrgo Express, in the
IRC Racing 11 class.
permitting racing continues tomorrow, hopefully in better circumstances.
