escape in Singapore waters...
The festivities and revelry have already started, with the pre-event fund-raising cocktail at the Post Bar in The Fullerton Hotel Singapore. Sailors and Ambassadors came together to support the CSC Community Outreach Program, an ongoing initiative to reach out to various communities in Singapore by providing them the opportunity to experience and learn the sport of sailing.
The fleet is divided into 4 classes, 43 Keelboats A & B, 9 Trimaran's and 2 Cruising Catamarans. The Ambassadors are onboard the Keelboats and the diplomatic staff and representatives spread out over the rest of the fleet and prizes will be awarded to all classes. The lucky draw for the Ambassadors will be announced on Saturday morning. For convenience mainsail and headsail or white sails only to be used and a selection of courses vary from up and down the Johor Strait, to around neighbouring Pulau Ubin. Last year the winning boat was Zanzibar skippered by Jonathan Mahony, with HE Fredesmán Turró González from the Cuban Embassy onboard.
Early October the NE Monsoon season uncharacteristically pushed through but since then has retreated and advanced bringing with it rain squalls, with disturbed wind direction and speed. Hopefully on race day tomorrow, the gods will send some sunshine, clear sky and enough wind for a good sail and a memorable outing for all to enjoy.
This year, they are very fortunate to have Oneberry Technologies onboard as Title Sponsors and confirmed the support of Gold Sponsors Yanmar Global & CHONG LEE LEONG SENG CO LTD (CLLS). Together with the unwavering support of Cosmosteel, Kaefer Prostar, Powerpartners private limited, Casillero del diablo, Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore and new sponsors The Luxury Network Singapore + Diplomatic Council (The Global Think Tank) has put the Ambassadors’ Cup Team in a stronger position to deliver unforgettable sailing and party experience at the Changi Sailing Club.
