Fire takes the lead in the 2019-20
For the next three months, racing swings over to the Western Circuit. The Royal Selangor Yacht Club are presently having a double celebration, 50 Golden Years (1969 - 2019) of the club and inviting past winners and participants to race on the 30th anniversary Raja Muda Selangor Int. Regatta (Nov 15th - 23rd) or attend the gala prize presentation in Langkawi, with the Sultan and Raja Muda of Selangor in attendance. There have been some major changes and competitors are asked to take close scrutiny of the NOR and SI's, before they can claim the specially produced miniature silver Raja Muda Cup this year.
Coming in relatively quick order, the racing community, are looking forward to Asia's biggest and most popular regattas, the Phuket King's Cup (Nov 30th - Dec 7th), the Royal Langkawi Int Regatta (January 6th - 11th) and the 10th Nongsa Neptune Regatta (January 24th - Feb 2nd). There are some very competitive boats for charter, crewing positions advertised and crew available by clicking on the website links.
The AYGP Rankings, is a unique point scoring system, that annually ranks all the big boat Skippers and Yachts that race in Eastern and South East Asian waters and awards the AYGP Skipper and Yacht of the Year titles to the winner. To be fully representative of the regions sailing nations, regattas in Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and China are point scoring events.
Ultimately the AYGP Skipper and Yacht of the Year will don the Trend Fashions navy blue blazer, presented with the Perpetual AYGP Cup filled with champagne and the hand crafted take home trophy at the gala Samui Regatta prize presentation party in May next year, is the highlight of the AYGP season.
