March 07th 2018: By winning the inaugural Subic Bay Verde Island Race and five of the six Subic Bay Cup races, Fred Kinmonth takes over second place and is only 10 points adrift from Chris Mitchell in the AYGP Skipper Rankings. Otonomos Mandrake III takes the lead from Lady Bubbly in the AYGP Yacht Rankings, with four point scoring events to go.

Goto AYGP Skipper RankingsRegulars on the Western Circuit events have also moved up the Rankings. Geoff Hill's Antipodes slots into third place, while Ernesto Echauz Standard Insurance Centennial is tied for 7th place. All these Skippers and Yachts have a chance to improve at the Rolex China Sea Race blue water classic, starting on March 28th, which is quickly followed by the Commodores' Cup (April 3rd - 7th) in Subic Bay.

Goto AYGP Yacht Rankings,One to watch out for is Emerson Villena's Philippine Sailing Association shooting up into 6th place, after completely dominating the newly conceived FarEast 28 class, by high scoring at the China Cup and the Subic Bay Cup. If they continue on this path at the Commodores' Cup, they will be right in amongst the leaders despite only contesting three events this season.

They stand exclusively amongst the last teams to run extensive racing campaigns through South and East Asian waters, each year. Regatta organisers cannot rely on yachts coming from afar to join their event anymore. Various solutions are being tested, including having charter boats available and incorporating dinghy classes into a sailing festival, in an effort to build up youth and National team participation at future events.

Goto AYGP Skipper RankingsRacing now moves back to Hong Kong for the Rolex China Sea Race blue water classic, starting on March 28th, which is quickly followed by the Commodores' Cup (April 3rd - 7th) in Subic Bay, to complete the Eastern Circuit.

The final two regattas Top of the Gulf (27th April - 1st May) held at the 2017 Best Marina award winning Ocean Marina and Samui Regatta (26th May - June 2nd) are centrally located in the Gulf of Thailand and are accessible to yachts from the both the Eastern and Western Circuits, for the final showdown and presentation of the prestigious 2017-18 AYGP Skipper and Yacht of the Year awards.
