Goto 2014-15 AYGP microsite23rd July 2014: A lot of discussion at the season opening Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek (Goto AY Photo Gallery), revolved around further participation at the twelve events, that make up the 2014-15 AsianYachting Grand Prix (AYGP). Quite a few of the top racing yacht owners and skippers, are planning their movements based on competing in at least six events during the season, to put themselves in the running for the AYGP Skipper and Yacht of the Year awards.

Although Bill Bremner's Foxy Lady 6, won the IRC Racing Class title and kicked off their assault on the 2014-15 AYGP title in fine style, it's Roland Dane's Corby 36 Jessandra II, with five wins in a row and a run away victory in the IRC 2 Class, that opens at the top of the AYGP leaderboard. All the class winners and podium places followed suite in the 2014-15 Rankings, which can be viewed by Skipper - Yacht - Regatta - Race Dates and Scoring System.

Second placed Paul Winkelmann’s HH42 Island Fling showed their light weather prowess, gained from their extensive optimization program carried out over the break, have an extensive program that includes Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club events before returning for the 25th Raja Muda and Phuket King's Cup.

Goto 2014-15 Skipper RankingsOr can Roland Dane's Corby 36 Jessandra II, do the job from the IRC 2 Class? A lot depends on the class break up at other events and the weather conditions experienced during the regatta. Everything is possible but don't forget, it was Jessandra II that missed out by only two seconds, at ruining Bremner's chance of winning the 2013-14 AYGP Skipper and Yacht of the Year awards, on the last race at the season ending Samui Regatta.

Goto 2014-15 Yacht RankingsThe family of 12 regattas that make up the 2014-15 AYGP and Scoring System are on the microsite, for Boat Owners and Skippers to plan their racing campaigns and movements this season. Serious contenders for the title, including some top Racing Teams from Australia and New Zealand are making plans to join from Hong Kong latter in the season. Or can a multihull carry through a long term campaign to win the title for the first time.

Goto 2014-15 AYGP micrositeJust ask any winning skipper and they will tell you "Winning the AYGP is the hardest task any racing crews can go though in Asian waters".

They have to be in top form and compete with distinction in at least 6 regattas during the season, before celebrating one of the proudest moments of their racing careers.
