"Hardest sports trophy to win in Asia"

Sam Chan's TP52 Freefire tops the 2018-19 AYGP Rankings...
By AY MultiMedia
Oct 25th 2018: Victory at the China Coast Regatta and second overall on the Hong Kong to Hainan Race, has promoted Sam Chan’s TP52 FreeFire to the top of the 2018-19 AsianYachting Grand Prix (AYGP) Rankings. Although Joachim Isler and Drew Taylor’s Mills 41 Ambush were off the pace at the CCR, in 5th place, they made up for it, with overall IRC victory, on the 390nm downwind Hainan Race, to claim the extra bonus points and slot into 2nd place in the AYGP Rankings.

These Skippers have leap froged Ray Roberts TP52 Team Hollywood for the top spot, but he is only 4 points adrift of Sam Chan and will be back amongst the points when the racing swings over to SE Asia, for the Raja Muda Selangor Int Regatta (Nov 16th - 24th) and Phuket King's Cup (Dec 1st - 8th).

Last seasons AYGP Skipper and Yacht of the Year, Fred Kinmonth/Nick Burns GTS 43 Mandrake III are equal 3rd with Ray Roberts but have taken two regattas to score 18 points, versus Roberts one regatta tally, that may play a big part latter in the season.

For the yachts that stayed behind in Hong Kong, they have another chance at improving their rankings, by contesting the China Cup Int Regatta (Nov 7th --12th) in Shenzhen, China.

If Tiffany Koo’s King Mills 40 Hero Racing Team continue with their winning form, they may well be on the way, to taking over top spot, by the time racing on the Eastern Circuit, comes to an end for this year.

News from the Philippines, The Chairman’s Cup Regatta 2019 will be replacing the Commodores’ Cup Regatta (CCR) scheduled on April 26-30, 2019, straight after the inaugural Hong Kong to Puerto Galera Yacht Race 2019 has finished. This is to honor of the leaders of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) who have played a significant role in the development of the Subic Bay Freeport and the Special Economic Zone. The present Chairperson and Administrator of SBMA who is also the 1st woman to hold the distinguished position, is none other than Atty. Wilma “Amy” T. Eisma and supports Subic Bay becoming the 'Home of Sailing'. The Subic Sailing Club is considering a feeder race from Puerto Galera designed to encourage participating Hong Kong Skippers and Yachts, for another round of competitive AYGP racing in Subic Bay, before heading back to Hong Kong.

A reminder that Early Bird Discounted Entry Fees are now open for the Royal Langkawi Int Regatta (January 7th - 12th) and the Neptune Regatta (February 2nd - 9th) at the beginning of 2019, that completes the AYGP point scoring events on the Western Circuit.
