America's Cup - AY Pre-Regatta Update
Live
action on AsianYachting
As there are numerous
satellite/broadband/cable newsfeeds available today we have decided to
join in on the auspicious occasion by carrying a live feed courtesy of
BMW Oracle Racing on both our website http://asianyachting.com
and also on my Facebook account at http://www.facebook.com/captmarty?ref=profile
Watch the live Dockout Show, prerecorded interviews with slide shows and
short video clips through out the morning and expect some post race commentaries
long after the racing is over. In fact the feed seems better on Facebook
maybe because their sever is used to higher traffic loads.
For those of you that have never heard of the America's Cup (If there
is any such person alive) two of the biggest baddest multihulls, Larry
Ellison's BMW Oracle trimaran with the 200 ft plus high wing sail USA-17
is challenging the Swiss defender, Ernesto Bertarelli's Alinghi team 90
foot catamaran Alinghi 5 will be fighting over the coming days.
Race Day 1 on Monday
was cancelled because there was little or no wind and the rescheduled
Race 1 on Wednesday the sea state was above the 1m average for racing
to safely take place. So here we are on Friday all sitting on the edge
of our seats waiting to see if there will be any racing today. Principal
Race Officer for the 33rd America's Cup, Harold Bennett, is facing some
hard decisions as the days go by.
Last night the following
notice was posted - The Warning Signal for Race 1 Friday 12th February
2010 will not be made before 11:54 Valencia Time or 1854 (Mas, Sing,
HK time). As that is only 10 mins away from the first gun, we will let
you get ready and hopefully the three race duel will commence.
