February 5th to 7th - Horsburgh Challenge - Singapore The Horsburgh Challenge is the SAF Yacht Club’s signature keelboat event held each year at the height of the blustery north-east monsoon season. Three days of Fleet Racing includes the 54-nautical mile passage race from the SAF Yacht Club’s Changi Clubhouse to the Horsburgh Lighthouse – situated on the Eastern entrance of the Singapore Straits – and back. Amongst other scheduled races is a 16-nautical mile race off the East Coast Park, a popular weekend recreational area for Singaporeans. Feb 19th - 22nd - West Pacific Hobie 16 Championships and Boracay Cup Classes for the Open Class, Philippine National Championship, Masters (over 45), Grand Masters (over 55), Youth (under 21) and Ladies.(subject to entry levels) Boats are available for charter. Full days racing will take place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday with up to 6 races each day. The grand finale will be followed by the Awards Ceremony and celebrations on Monday night. Many of the competitors are expected to stay on afterwards to compete in the Boracay Cup (See below). This event which was initially established for Keelboats and Ocean Multi-hulls will open its doors to the Beach Catamarans for the first time. The Hobie 16 and Tigers will race on long 15 to 20 mile offshore courses, which is totally different to the windward/leeward courses used for the WestPac Championships. Organised by the Royal Hong Kong and Manila Yacht Club, the Rolex China Sea Race is a biennial, Offshore Category 1 race of 565nm from Hong Kong to Subic Bay in the Philippines. In 2008 this Asian blue-water classic become part of Rolex's distinguished portfolio of international sponsored offshore races. The race is open to offshore racing and cruising yachts with valid IRC Certificates. ***** April 6th to 10th - Subic Bay Commodore's Cup Commodore of the Subic Bay Yacht Club announced that after the 2010 China Sea Race from Hong Kong finishes in Subic Bay, it will be followed by 4 days (April 6th - 10th) of inshore racing under the banner of the Commodore’s Cup 2010. Racing will be conducted by Subic Bay Yacht Club and Lighthouse Marina under the auspices of the Philippine Sailing Association. Renown International Race Director, Jerry Rollin will be calling the shots on the water. Being a superb natural harbour protected from the China Sea, Subic Bay is an ideal spot to finish the China Sea Race, as at Subic Bay Freeport, there is the large marina with facilities for pulling out yachts if required. ***** May 1st to 5th - 6th Top of The Gulf Regatta & Coronation Cup For keelboats, large multi's, beach cats and dinghy classes held on the first week of May at Ocean Marina, near Pattaya in the Gulf of Thailand. It incorporates the prestigious Platu 25 Coronation Cup and timed to commemorate the Coronation of His Majesty King Bhumibhol Adulyadej of Thailand. Bill Gasson, chairman of the organizing committee, added that boats are available for charter and “It’s hard to find a better location, good wind, a great sailing area just out the front door of the marina". Starts May - Sail Malaysia - Passage to the East Yacht Rally Is one of 2 rallies organised in Malaysia this year. The objective of the event is to promote the less traveled sailing destinations in east Malaysia. Twelve (12) Malaysian destinations plus Brunei are in store for the rally fleet - Penang, Lumut, Danga Bay, Puteri Harbour, Sebana Cove, Tioman Island, Kuantan, Kapas Island, Kuala Terengganu, Santubong-Kuching, Miri, Brunei and Kota Kinabalu - where a host of dinners, receptions and exciting activities awaits. July 24th start - Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race & Rally Expressions of interest for the historic Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race/Rally organised by the Dinah Beach Cruising Yacht Association are now open, so get in early as entries close in June. The 600 mile race to the capital of the famous spice islands is destined again to become one of the classic blue water events. Numbers reached 100 before the race was suspended in 1999. Entry fee covers C.A.I.T cruising permit and Ambon clearance charges. After Ambon participants then have the option to continue with the rally to Makassar and Bali or tailor their own sailing holiday through Indonesia and beyond. July 24th Start - Sail Indonesia This event is progressively turning South East Asian waters into a world class cruising destination. The 2010 edition is a collaborative effort to promote the navigational route from Darwin, Australia, through the Indonesian archipelago ending up in Singapore. The rally starts in Darwin in July and this year incorporates Sail Banda Indonesia's largest marine event for 2010. Sail Indonesia has attracted over one hundred entrants (three months before starting) so get in early. Yachts will enjoy many benefits including the obligatory CAIT (Cruising permit for Indonesia), swift port clearances and Gala celebrations in Darwin and selected Indonesian ports plus cultural visits to neighboring island villages along the way. July 28th to August 7th - The SANDEQ RACE Is the world's fastest, longest and hardest race for traditional fishing vessels and one of Indonesia's best nautical events of the year! August 14, 15, 21 & 22 - 13th SMU/RM Western Circuit Sailing Regatta The WCSR is co-organised by Raffles Marina and Singapore Management University and recognized as one of Singapore's premier regattas that takes place in Western Singapore waters. Taking advantage of the solid SW monsoon breezes, the regatta is a combination of windward/leeward courses and passage races over three weekends. The IRC fleet will be taking on an extra passage race and all classes will be contesting the SMU President's Cup on the 23rd. The 2009 edition features six divisions: IRC A & B, One Design J-24 & SB3, PY and beach catamarans. October 29th to Nov 1st - 4th China Cup International Regatta After the success of the inaugural China Cup International Regatta in 2007 organisers rapidly expanded the One Design Class to 30 Beneteau First 40.7 yachts. More intense competition is expected this year in Daya Bay off Shenzhen, China. The Longcheer Yacht Club are the hosting venue and an extravaganza of social and cultural events are held during the event. The regatta kicks off with a passage race from Hong Kong to Shenzhen and followed by three days of inshore racing in and around the territorial waters in Shenzhen Daya Bay. Sponsorship of boats/teams in the Beneteau 40.7 one-design division is permitted and organisers expect 'stronger challengers and more countries represented. So far, teams from UK, Japan, Norway, France, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Korea, Russia, Turkey, Spain and Israel have expressed their intention for this year’s race. - Sail Malaysia Passage to LangkawiThe rally started in Darwin during July as Sail Indonesia with over 100 entrants. Sail Malaysia will be taking over from Singapore and offer a series of linked events and north up the west coast of Malaysia stopping at Lumut and Penang before going onto the final presentation and dinner on the island of Langkawi during the first week of December. The first stop will be co-hosted by the two major marine attractions in southern Johor, west of the causeway at Danga Bay and Puteri Harbour Marina. Nov 30th - Dec 5th - Monsoon Cup Terengganu, Malaysia
After five successful events the final round of the 2010 World
Match Racing Tour will be held in Terengganu, Malaysia.
With the help of Aussie champion Dato' Peter Gilmour, the Monsoon
Cup has attracted MYR
1.57 millon (approx US$454,000) prize pool, which is the biggest
on the tour and fitting for the grand final. Sailed in Foundation 36's,
designed by New Zealander Brett Bakewell-White. This project is inline
with the Malaysian PM's plan to develop the East coast for yachting and
marine tourism activities. The prevailing NE Monsoon winds will be an
attraction and the event is expected to become Malaysia's yachting equivalent

***** January - 17th Singapore Straits Regatta Held in a late January time slot as the NE Monsoon winds are expected to have set in and produce excellent sailing conditions. The regatta is a SingaporeSailing event and this year Raffles Marina plays and after last years success the entire event will be held in Batam, Indonesia. Foreign yachts are required to complete documentation for ‘Green Book’ and Sailing Permit to sail in Indonesian (Riau) waters by early January. All yachts with complete outbound immigration and port clearance documentation can leave for Nongsa Point from any location in their own time. Also individual US$10 Visa Fees for up to 7 days stay are payable on arrival in Batam. Four days of racing is scheduled and three nights of entertainment at Nongsa Point will cap of a unique visit to Batam, which some sailors describe as the 'Center of the Universe'. This event also marks the conclusion of the three nations S.E.A. Perpetual Cup Series where the winner is awarded the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy.
