1. RULES
1.1 The event will be governed
by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) 2009-2012 Racing Rules
of Sailing, the prescriptions of Malaysian Yachting Association (MYA),
the respective Class Rules, this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions.
2. ELIGIBILITY
2.1 The following categories
of sailors are eligible for participation in this regatta:
I) Members of all Sailing Clubs and Marinas in Asia
II) Invited Yacht owners and skippers
III) Visiting Yachts in the region
3. ENTRIES
3.1 Secretariat will be set
up at the Tioman Marina in Tekek.
The entry fees for the regatta have yet to be determined and will be posted
when available. They are expected to include Regatta T-shirts and entry
to all social functions.
4. PROGRAMME
4.1 Saturday
9th June: Heralds the start of the inaugural East Coast Yachting
Festival.
Two feeder races / motor rallies, starting simultaneously from Singapore/Sebana
Cove in the south and from the northern state of Terengganu finishing
at Tioman island. The cruisers and motor yachts with time to spare can
cruise along the coast and moor up overnight at some of the spectacular
Johor, Terengganu and Pahang resort islands along the way.
4.2 Sunday 10th June: For the racing classes it is expected
to be an overnight race finishing in Tioman on Sunday 10th and the cruising/motor
rally reaching Tioman by mid-week ready for the main event
4.3 Wednesday 13th: Local speed boat racing in Tekek
Bay for 20hp, 40hp and 60hp classe
4.4 Friday 15th June: Round Tioman Challenge - Welcome
party
4.5 Saturday 16th June: Tekek and Juara gates open between
7:00 am to 7:00 pm and the individual Around Tioman time trials begin
in earnest as determined crews try to record the fastest time around the
island. Trophy and prizes will be awarded to the fastest yachts in each
class as well as the boat that records the quickest time over the weekend
will be crowned the annual speed champion.
4.6 Saturday 16th: The Laser, 420 and 470 dinghy classes,
along with any high performance beach catamarans, planning skiffs, foiling
Moths, wind surfers and kite boarders will complete the circumnavigation
in an anti clockwise direction and in two stages. First up start at the
Tekek gate at 10am on Saturday and finish half way around the island at
the Juara gate. After an overnight stopover in Juara restart at 10am on
Sunday and complete the rest of the passage round the island
4.7 Saturday night barbeque and street party both in
Tekek and Juara.
4.8 Sunday 17th: The big yachts are divided up into classes
and rolling starts begin for the Round Tioman Challenge. Line and handicap
prizes will be awarded to each class and the fastest times go down as
the official Race Record.
4.9 Final prize presentation and gala dinner.
4.10 This marks the conclusion to organised activities
and the yachts can either return home to their respective ports or continue
cruising to other South China Sea destinations.
5. CLASSES
5.1 Keelboats will be divided
into IRC classes based on the entries and the yachts rating.
5.2 Performance and Cruising Multihull
5.3 Laser, 420 and 470 dinghy classes, along with any high performance
beach catamarans, planning skiffs, foiling Moths, wind surfers and kite
boarders that turn up will be catered for.
6. HANDICAP
SYSTEM
6.1 The IRC 2012 Handicap System
shall be used for Keelboat and Sportsboat classes. Farr Platu 25 racing
under IRC, any un-weighted boats will be given an allocated weight of
1136 kg. A copy of the valid certificates is to be made available if requested.
6.2 Boats who require a rating certificate and do not provide sufficient
boat data will be allocated a handicap based on standard hull data and/or
a known sistership. This will not be subject to protest or redress.
6.3 The OMR handicap system shall be used for the Multihulls. Un-weighed
boats will be allocated a TCC by the Racing Committee and will not be
subject to protest or redress.
7. COURSE
7.1 The courses for the regatta
will be fully described in the Sailing Instructions.
8. PRIZES
8.1 Overall – 1st to
3rd Positions in all classes for yacht and crew.
8.2 Class prizes will also be awarded subject to a minimum of 6 entries.
9. ADDITIONAL
PROGRAM
9.1 Entry form will
be available online and organisers welcome expressions of interest in
advance to help with estimating requirements.
10. INDEMNITY
10.1 AsianYachting
Ventures, Malaysian Yachting Association, Tioman Marina, the officials,
members and volunteers who assist in the organising and running of the
regatta will not be liable for the loss of life or property, personal
injury or damage caused or arising out of this event.
