Round Tioman Challenge

Opening up new horizons - Destination South China Sea
Located 36 nautical miles, off Malaysia's east coast lies Pulau Tioman or Tioman Island. It is already a popular water sports destination and staging the inaugural East Coast Yachting Festival and the Round Tioman Challenge next year in mid June, will bring an exciting new venue and racing format to the Asian yachting calendar. National sailing authorities are very supportive and are expecting to use the occasion to raise the profile of sailing in the region. Check out the RTC Notice of Race (NOR) Here...

Having "One of the Ten Best Islands in the World" right on the doorstep, provides a wonderful opportunity for Malaysia to take the lead and welcome pleasure craft into the South China Sea and officially open the Southern Gateway to the last great cruising playground in the world.

This fascinating yacht cruising destination spans 1,300,000 sq miles and is the biggest Sea in the world by far. Flanked by China to the north, Philippines and Borneo on the east, Indonesia and Malaysia to the south and Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam to the west. Weather in the region is marked by seasonal monsoons and typhoons are often experienced during the wet season. Pulau Tioman and the off lying diving attractions have a huge reputation to live up to on the world stage and the island arrives into the 21st Century relatively untouched by the 3 to 4 thousand occupants in seven coastal villages dotted around the island and naturally well preserved virgin rainforest interior by courtesy of the Marine Park classification. The history of Tioman has already been well documented and maintains a compelling presence on the internet. Goggle Tioman Island and hundreds of results can be found including Island Guide, Online Resort accommodation and even Berjaya Air bookings can be arranged, just to name a few.
