INTERNATIONAL

1. What a exciting race and fantastic finish the Vendee Globe turned out to be. Congratulations to Michel Desjoyeaux for setting a new single handed monohull record of 93 days to sail non stop around the world and 2nd placed British lass Ellen MacArther the youngest competitor in the race and all the competitors who have captured the general publics imagination and interest in sailing via the media to become national hero's. Raising the standards yet again and showing how the Internet can produce a new and exciting dimension to covering major yachting events.

2. As Grant Daltons monstrous high speed catamaran Club Med (33 meters (109.1 ft) long, 17.5 m (52.6 ft) beam and a rotating wing mast 41.50 m (136.16 ft) tall) nears the finish line of The Race which started of Barcelona on December 31st the sailing record books are to be rewritten yet again in as many days. If they finish on the 1st or 2nd of March they will have taken a remarkable 60 days to complete a global circumnavigation under sail. Breaking the previous Jules Verne record held by second placed Sport Elec by more than 15 days. Don't miss the last exciting days of The Race as the competitors struggle towards the finish.

My thanks once again to those who have emailed me about the newsletter.
Wishing you the best of luck in your yachting endeavours.
Kindest Regards
Capt Marty Rijkuris
