1. Sorry, the dates for the 9th President's Cup Regatta 2001 on Subic Bay in the Philippines are February 19th to the 24th, please disregard the previous dates advertised in the December newsletter. Their new website is up and running so click on http://www.manilayachtclub.org/prescup/ or contact Jerry Rollin. Despite the present political problems Organizing Chairman Ray Ordoveza reports the availability of several charter yachts for the regatta and invites interested skippers and crews to contact Connie at the Manila Yacht Club race office (632) 5267868

2. If you missed any of the race reports during the South East Asian Regatta Circuit 2000/2001 don't despair as they are available by going direct to the following webpages:
Singapore Straits Regatta http://asianyachting.com/news/SSR.htm

3. One of the toughest yacht races in the world is conducted in the Austral-Asian region and courtesy of senior yachting journalist Peter Campbell the summary, reports and final results of this grueling event have been extracted from the 50 odd race reports received from the Telstra Sydney to Hobart 2000 office. They have been made available at http://asianyachting.com/news/SydHob.htm Enjoy!

4. Looking at selling your boat or wanting to upgrade to a faster or bigger one for the coming season? The free brokerage page has some new listings. Two Bashford 36's, a catamaran and a 52ft steel cruiser have been recently added. All yachts are presently in South East Asia and more information is available along with their inventories on separate pages. So come on and give us a offer after viewing them at http://asianyachting.com/boats/yachtsforsale.htm

5. The search is on for some improved graphics for the Asian Yachtmaster Scheme, so if anybody has access to some usable items they will be greatly appreciated by the students and all concerned in handing on these traditional sailing skills to Asian sailors. The http://AsianYachting.com site is presently being upgraded and I invite all organizations, race committee's and interested parties that wish to be included for 2001 to return email their information, race dates and details to me ASAP.

2. With all the racing action in the Southern and Atlantic Oceans at the moment many thanks must go to the people who invented the internet for being able to communicate by email and keep up with their daily progress (some times hourly)on the many websites covering these events. Never before has there been so much detailed information including video footage and onboard interviews available almost instantly in the comfort of your own living room.

To follow the exciting concluding stages of the Vendee Globe - the single handed, non stop round the world race and see if British sailor Ellen MacArther on Kingfisher will become the first woman to win the world's most grueling yachting event.

Another one to follow is The Times Clipper 2000/01 Round The World Yacht Race Website: http://www.clipper-ventures.com which will be passing through Asia latter this year and participating in the Hong Kong to San Fernando Yacht Race on the way.

Wishing you the best of luck in your yachting endeavors.

Kindest regards
